Social-Emotional Mentoring

Introduction

The bond of a mentor and mentee is powerful. According to a Harvard University Study on the science of resilience and trauma “every child who winds up doing well has had at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive adult” (2015). This webpage provides a variety of tools and resources to help mentors bring intentionally into their relationship with children by strengthening connection. We call these strategies the 3 C’s: connect, calm, and collaborate. You can use the 3 C’s as a foundation to your relationship when children are regulated (calm) and when children are upset. The following modules provide information about the strategies and give you activities that you can do with children to strengthen your bond and build resilience that lasts a lifetime.
